Currie dog exercise area,
located at 3535 North Mayfair
Rd in Wauwatosa, is a modest
plot of land not much bigger
than a large backyard,
probably less than two acres.
There are two entrances, one
on Capitol just west of Mayfair
and a back gate which can be
accessed via Mayfair just
south of Capitol on the
Menomonee River Parkway.
Currie is a Milwaukee County
Park so your dog’s tag from
any other Milwaukee County
Dog Park is valid here. There CLICK HERE for park notices
are beautiful views of the
Menomonee river. There are no CLICK HERE for a pic of the payment envelope
human bathrooms. Bring your
own water for drinking. Bags are
provided for picking up after your dog. There are shade trees, ash, maple, pine,
and benches beneath them. Using a Chuckit might be problematic especially if
you’re a good thrower. The small park can get a bit crowded. If you’re lucky
enough not to hit someone in the head on the back swing, your ball could easily
leave the park and indeed I did notice several tennis balls laying outside the fence.
I did get the impression that the dogs, because of the reduced elbow room, were
more inclined to form play packs and chase each other around in lieu of the ball.
All in all, our dogs had fun running in several different packs and were out of
breath by the time we left the Currie Dog Exercise Area.
