Located about a quarter mile north of Rawson on 92 street, in Whitnall Park
on the east side of the street, just north of the archery range, across from
Whitnall Park Golf Course, there is an extensive and hilly patch of heavily
wooded land behind Ross Lodge.  A short asphalt access road leads to a
small parking area.  From there proceed on foot due east, past Ross Lodge,
into the forest.
Secluded and often completely empty of people, the area behind Ross
Lodge is perfect for adventurous dogs and their people.  This park may not
be for the tiny dog though.  Many large prey birds such as the Barred Owl
and Red tail Hawk are seen in the canopy and skies overhead.  The trails
are extensive and non-improved (dirt) and quite often slope up and down
at steep inclines.  So when you visit the trails behind Ross Lodge, be
prepared for a rigorous trek.
